About Sisu Assessment and Psychotherapy
Welcome! Life is a series of joyful moments and periods of difficulty. It is during those difficult times that we all need sisu to thrive. The Finns are widely accepted as one of the happiest cultures in the world. However, they don’t define happiness as a fleeting concept. Rather, they recognize that happiness can be attributed to a strong social safety net, regular time spent in nature, and the concept of sisu, or grit, determination, and resilience through difficult times. People show their sisu in many ways, and grit is something that Tacoma knows something about! Embarking on a journey of self-discovery through psychological or psycho-education evaluation, or therapy, is an important step in strengthening your own sense of sisu. Let us help!
Dr. Lauri Lindquist (she/her) is a licensed psychologist in Tacoma, WA, serving the South Puget Sound region. Dr. Lindquist has spent the past decade working as a school psychologist in Tacoma Public Schools, where she performed hundreds of psychoeducational evaluations through a neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and anti-racist lens.
Services and Costs
Individual Therapy
Dr. Lindquist draws from a variety of modalities, including relational, attachment, and third-wave behavioral therapies. She provides individual therapy to teens and adults. In particular, she has experience with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting stress, and those navigating life’s many transitions. As a queer-friendly therapist, Dr. Lindquist also explores themes of identity, fluidity, and growth. Therapy can be provided in person, or through tele-health. Therapy works best when there is a good “fit” between therapist and client. While Dr. Lindquist loves to work with individuals to find unearthed and unhealthy patterns that are making life more difficult, she is not a good fit for those with severe mental illness, those who need acute crisis care, or those for whom therapy is legally mandated.
Psychological and Psychoeducational Evaluations
Dr. Lindquist also provides evaluations for diagnostic clarification, ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. Dr. Lindquist does not provide forensic evaluations, evaluations to assess parenting/custody fitness, or any court-mandated evaluation/evaluation for any legal proceeding.
